Brief 3: Design publication the concept

Before i started to go any further i decided to just cement my concept and why i was producing the book. Just so i was clear about why i was actually doing this.

Concept

The concept behind the book is to create a book from scrap paper that would have otherwise been thrown away, thus extending the lifespan of this paper and giving it a reuse, similar to that of Jonathan Chapmans theory of emotionally durable design, durable being key here, giving an object just that little bit extra of a lifespan. Having this book that is made sustainably works we'll with my methodology and how i approach design because i always consider what stock i am going to use first, so in this case it is the most important thing. To makes sure the book is used again after it has been read the lifespan is again extended with a sketchbook/notebook added to the end for people to use making it not such a pointless book after all. If this was to be in 'real life' and was to be used after then it would be sustainable but it is just here to be marked, but at least this add extra lifespan of a sketchbook means i can personally use it when i get it back. The content of the book will offer a insight into how i work and how some of my own briefs have been developed to be sustainable, also showing how i approach a brief and hopefully educating the reader on sustainable methods so its not just a book people read thats about me and doesn't educate them at all. The durability of the book will also be considered, so it doesn't fall apart easily and when being used as a sketchbook it keeps held together so when pages get opened and closed a lot they stay together well.
