These are initial ideas that Ant created for the logo for Capital North, he created this icon shown below, The logo is fun and playful, it forms a connection between the four cities and also has that link with the city (London) and the tube map, this map can then be applied to other transport systems around the cities. The logo also is formed of 2 arrows that are directed up and down to show the connection that we want to form between the south and the North. That is the meaning behind the logo.
From this i then started to create different variations of this logo and think about the colours that i could use.
To start off with i started to think about the colours that could be used, so i took colours of variations of colours from the coats of arms from each city.

I then incorporated these colours into the logo
Using a gradient i could create all the colours into one logo to form on succinct thing.
We thought this might have some scope but after speaking to some people they felt it looked a bit like the Manchester metro logo.
I then started to think about using the type, shown below i just used the C and N but i think this started to look too much like New Balance and didn't really give off a feeling of Capital North and i should stick to just having the name Capital North.
I just played around with the logo a bit, i started to think about how each police was like a HUB, which made me think of the London underground station so i incorporated this into the logo below using the circles.

Selecting colours
At frist i took colours from the different football teams of each city, below you can see that the top row is this, Leeds in the blue, Red for Manchester and pink that has come from the red for Liverpool and then the gold for Hull.
